Wedding Photography FAQs

Essential questions answered

Every wedding reflects the personality and interests of the couple, and the details of their chosen venue. That is why I believe every wedding is different, so my priority is always to listen to what people want and photograph in a way that's important to them. When booking your wedding photography there will be many questions you will want to ask, detailed below are the most Frequently Asked Questions, I hope my answers help guide you. Feel free to contact me about any aspect of your wedding.

Paul

We want you to shoot our Wedding, how do we book? Please contact me to arrange an informal chat. I always recommend meeting for a chat over coffee, as many couples have told me this was the ideal way to get the coverage best suited to them. Taking a few simple details and paying a deposit are all that is needed to secure the date for you.

Do you travel for Weddings and Couples Shoots? Absolutely, I am always amazed at the fantastic places I get to visit and wonderful people I meet. I principally work in the West Midlands, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire regions.

How far in advance should I book? I recommend booking 12 months in advance, once you have named the day check my availability. If you are planning a Saturday marriage in June - July - August, it's always best to book atleast a year in advance to secure your chosen date.

We are having a short engagement, can you help? I will always do my best to be flexible and help. My best advice is to contact me and check availability.

We are having a winter wedding, is this something you do? Absolutely, as I work all year round. Winter photography needs a little more attention to colour, and gives the opportunity to explore the chosen wedding venue in greater detail. Feel free to contact me, I will be delighted to chat about your needs and offer advice.

Do you photograph more than one wedding per day? No. My policy is to only accept one wedding booking per day, because people book me for my personality and ability to create the photos they want. When you book with me, you are assured that you are always my priority.

How much do you charge? I believe every wedding is different and unique to the couple and their families, so I listen to what they want to ensure they get the perfect experience. My prices start at £1250, on average couples will spend between £2500 and £3500 with me. Prices are always influenced by how long you want me with you on the day, plus the type and number of albums and prints chosen.

How much time will we need for photographs? Over the years, I have found this works well for many couples:

  • 60 minutes Before the ceremony = allow more if you want bridal preparations
  • 45 minutes Ceremony = depending on your chosen wedding service.
  • 20 minutes Group Photos = with family and friends.
  • 20 minutes Couples Portraits = typically in short sessions throughout the afternoon.
  • 90 minutes Wedding Breakfast = for room shots, details and speeches.
  • 90 minutes Reception = for first dance, cake cutting and documentray style shots of your guests.

What happens if it rains on the day? Firstly don't panic! As your appointed photographer, I will already have visited the wedding day venues and worked out the best places to shoot what ever the weather. I consider what we can do when the weather is glorious and when it's not so good. This is one reason why it is best to book well ahead of your big day, giving me valuable time to research the venues and deliver the images you deserve.

How long does it take to get my photos? Typically images are available around 3 weeks after your wedding day. I always aim to provide a dozen or so example images within two days, so brides and grooms can share their joy with family and friends through social media.

Can you help find other suppliers for my wedding? I am pleased to recommend a few trusted partners that will help make your wedding day truly special and memorable. If you need any specific advice or recommendations, then we can chat through your needs.

What do you recommend for bridal preparation? I strongly recommend Brides have professional hair and make-up on the day. This enhances their experience and makes them feel amazing on the morning of the wedding. The right make-up is really important and for photographic purposes, a natural looking matt finish with complementary eye and lip colours has proven to work best.
